Love Bites: Nurturing respectful and positive relationships

Women up North is a Northern NSW service for women, children and young people who have experienced domestic violence or family violence or abuse.

As a recipient of our 2024 Grants Program, we are proud to be walking alongside them. Over the course of this year Ingrained has been, and continues to, support the roll out of the Love Bites program to high school students across Lismore, Nimbin, Casino, Kyogle and Woodenbong.

"Women Up North would like to say thank you to Ingrained for supporting the Bundjalung Love Bites Committee of providers so that we can deliver the Healthy Relationships Programs in regional and rural Northern Rivers schools this year.”

An early intervention program delivered by a committee of local domestic, sexual violence and health organisations, Love Bites provides young people aged 15 - 17 years with the knowledge needed to have respectful relationships, to understand the meaning of consent and to enjoy positive relationships.

An impact area of Ingrained Foundation’s Theory of Change is Community Capacity Building; we’re excited to be investing in Women Up North and Love Bites, and supporting them to address this impact area in our local community.

The project delivers a safe environment for young people to participate in a workshop group setting in which they can develop critical thinking skills and decision-making capacity regarding their safety, and ability to participate in healthy relationships and engender these concepts amongst peers, family and community.

Through this program, young people are also introduced to local support services that include Women Up North Housing, Richmond Sexual Assualt service, Northern Kids Care, Youth Connections, Community Health and local Police.
